Dreams Come True At Macky’s Dance Battle!
This past weekend, our team traveled to Gilbert, Arizona where we got to witness an epic birthday dance battle between our founder Brodi and campaign kid Macky at Macky's Dance Battle! The event was hosted by Macky and his family at F45, and sponsored by Western Transport Logistics. The night was filled with amazing vendors, food, HIIT workouts, and dancing! We even got to surprise two of our local campaign kids Hazel and Luke with their dream trips!
Hazel's family is good friends with Macky's family, and that is how they were introduced to Campaign One At A Time. Luke is one of our March campaign families who also knew Macky's family, although they didn't realize it until midway through the event!
When Macky's mom Dani started planning the event, she asked if there were any local kids we could surprise with a dream trip, and coincidentally we had Phoenix local Luke on our roster of campaign kids this month. After Dani handed over the poster to Luke that said he was going to Disney World, Luke's mom gave Dani a hug and felt that she knew her. Two years earlier, they had met in the elevator of Phoenix Children's Hospital while both Macky and Luke were going through treatment!
"I can’t stop telling everyone about meeting Dani (again) when we were being given the news of our dream trip" she says."I still can’t believe how small our world actually is, we met under awful circumstances the 1st time a couple years ago, but the connection was real, we had cancer kiddos and no one understands unless you are in it" Luke's mom Heather tells us."
Fast forward to last weekend when I handed her my phone to put her number in and our entire conversation came up along with pictures of our kiddos while going through treatment was unreal. I felt an extraordinary calmness and comfort that both our boys are still HERE! We are so very blessed! And meeting up again like this was just MEANT TO BE. I have always believed you meet people for a reason!" Heather says.
It was such a beautiful moment to experience, and we just love how our campaign families continue to support each other in so many different ways!
“We are so beyond honored to be gifted the trip of our dreams. 2 1/2 years ago our lives came to a screeching halt when Luke was diagnosed, then with Covid on top of it, we were in complete lock down and dreamed of a day we could go on a magical vacation and this past weekend you all made it a reality! We are so over the moon excited!! Heather says.
Macky got to go on his dream trip to Disney World in December of 2021, and has since helped support and make dreams come true for numerous campaign kids. We are so grateful for the Porter’s and are so excited to keep spreading good together!
