Do you ever reminisce, or even wonder what you were thinking at age 17?

At age 17, Cameron Harris-Brown of Stockton, Ca was thinking about so many things. He was thinking about his future; all the things he wanted to do, all the things he wanted to learn, and he was thinking about all the people he wanted to help even while going through one of the toughest battles of his life. At age 17, Cameron was battling stage 4 colon cancer. When approached by Campaign One At A Time to fulfill one of his biggest dreams, Cameron's thought process went directly to how he could use this opportunity to help more people instead of just helping himself.

Before being diagnosed with cancer, Cameron and his mom would spend their weekends cutting hair and praying for the local homeless community of Stockton, Ca. Cameron witnessed the direct impact these acts of kindness made on the homeless community and he wanted to share his love with even more people. Cameron asked Campaign One At A Time to help turn his ministry 'Love Thy Neighbor' into an official 501(c)3 nonprofit, and that is what we did!

In just two days, we raised over $2,500 for Cameron's campaign, giving us the opportunity to file his paperwork and get him set up for success. We even had the opportunity to join Cameron on one of his special weekends of giving to the local Stockton community. Witnessing the passion Cameron had for giving back and helping others was so inspiring. You could just see happiness coming from him with every haircut he gave and every conversation he had.

On October 25th, 2020, Cameron passed away after his battle with colon cancer.

Just two weeks before his passing, Love Thy Neighbor's 501(c)3 paperwork was processed and Cameron officially got to become the CEO of Love Thy Neighbor. Cameron was able to fulfill his mission, which now goes on to help hundreds of people every month thanks to his amazing friends, family, and community who keep his organization thriving and spreading good. It's such an honor being able to help fulfill dreams for kids like Cameron, and help their legacy live on forever.

A personal note from our CEO

I am so grateful for Cameron. Before he passed, we spent a lot of time together; in person, and on the phone. With him being an older Campaign kid, we got to talk about a lot and really bond. I honestly don't really feel like he is gone sometimes. His personality was that big! Always had new questions, always had something to share, and always had a smile on his face. Today is Cameron's 19th birthday and I can't help, but think about what he would say today. He would be calling or texting me, asking for insight on how to grow Love Thy Neighbor, but as always, he would probably be asking if there was anything he could do to help me, because that is just who Cameron Harris-Brown was; one of the most giving and caring people I'll ever meet. I love you little bro. Happy birthday.
