Lucas is a 7 year old from Colorado Springs, CO. Lucas is so kind. He cares about others, wants to make sure others have their needs met, and absolutely loves his siblings. Lucas’ journey started after he had been feeling pretty sick for a few weeks. After being told by 3 different doctors that it was just a virus, he woke up on Thanksgiving of 2018 with purple petechiae all over his body. His labs were drawn at urgent care and they found out that his white blood cell count was over 50,000. He was immediately transferred to the hospital and was officially diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

After 2 years of treatment, Lucas was declared healthy and in remission. Unfortunately, 6 months after that, he relapsed. Cancer was found in his blood as well as his spinal fluid and brain, making things even more complicated. Lucas received more chemo and was able to reach remission again. In September of 2021, he had a bone marrow transplant. Lucas is now on oral chemo medication daily to help prevent another relapse and will have another bone marrow aspirate in September to make sure there are still no cancer cells.
