Landon loved playing outside. Landon was so healthy as a baby. He was building roller coasters with his gears since he was two years old. He loved putting things together and marble runs.
He was just five, how could my healthy child have cancer. I remember getting into the small closet of a room on the Oncology floor (Landon calls it the hotel), and we barely had time to settle in and they call us into the family room. It was around 11:30 pm, the resident told us it likely Cancer. All I could think, is my child going to die and sobbing. The resident was new to the floor, I can hear her saying quietly "I am not good at this". We demanded every test that was not cancer. We met with the Oncologist the next day and she ran every test, even though she knew the answer was Leukemia.
Landon had to grow up faster than any child should ever have to, he has to literally fight for his life everyday. I learned so much from him. He works hard to try keep up with his friends at school, he sold lemonade to help raise money for Alex Lemonade Stand. He even raised money with one of our friend's son that is a 10 year survivor for St Judes. Landon is not treated at St. Judes. Landon has not complained once about having cancer or not being able to do certain things. We don't get the chance do a lot of fun things, do to treatment. We learned to love each other more. We also lost Landon's Grandmother to GBM, while Landon was in Frontline. She was one of Landon's Caregivers for the first four years of his life while we worked. So I can say this, cancer took away so much from us.
Landon use to love to build things, but his hand strength is not there. We are working on with Duplos. He loved Legoland, because of the roller coasters and the lego people. He loves avengers and his favorite is Captain America and Iron Man. We missed out on going places, due to covid and cancer. We may live in Orlando, but Landon only been to Animal Kingdom and was only two. We never got to chance to go to all the parks.
Landon would love to go to GKTW because he can just be a kid. He would get to see his favorite characters. He would love to ride the rides. We would get to hear about how much fun he is having and not about what we did at the hospital today. We would love not to think about Cancer for a few days.
