the jimmy fund donation

Dana Farber President’s Circle

In September, we were able to donate $1500 to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development & the Jimmy Fund. Try to say that five times fast!
The donation was made in honor of Martin Weber, our fifth campaign child. And of course, it was made possible because of the selfless donors who gave during that campaign.
Because of our donation, we have the privilege of being a part of the Dana Farber President’s Circle and in December our Marketing Director, Andrew Peluso, will be taking a tour of the Dana Farber hospital in Boston, MA.
Before making the donation we wanted to make sure we were making as much of a direct impact on children and their families as possible. We asked Casey Quinn, Dana Farber’s Assistant Director of Annual Giving, to share how our donation will be used and this is what she shared:
“A teenager from Utah was diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma three years ago. This past year, she relapsed. She and her mother, who had just been laid off, traveled to Boston with the hope of enrolling in a clinical trial. Although the patient was not eligible for the trial, she received a three-week course of radiation therapy along with two unplanned inpatient stays while in Boston. Her mother incurred significant out-of-pocket expenses related to her care, including airfare, two nights in a hotel, and meals. With this rapid succession of expenses, the family struggled to buy food. A generous number of gift cards for meals and groceries assisted this family during a very difficult time.”
This type of impact is exactly what we strive for at One At A Time. It is our pleasure to provide a donation to the Jimmy Fund and we look forward to our visit in December.

Love to hear that you were able to help this young girl and her mom! Definitely one less thing she had to worry about and can focus on her daughter. 😌
